End of August

We had the tractor out there the last 2 days moving some dirt around in the front of the house trying to form our lil turn around area as well as parking zone etc...
The trim and tile on the stairs was complete this week and looking really good with the wood contrast as well...pretty rad
Wall shower completed and tiled looking good...kinda of a bad photo with the light but it looks really good..
Jack n jill shower completed the bottom of shower and trim look really good with the color of tile..
This upcoming week the tractor is gonna be out there digging out a spot for the septic tank as well as doing some grading for water to be falling away from the house as well as returning to the front of the house where we will bve doing some more work for turn around/parking area..

Tile Tile Tile..Retaining ?s

Chill out zone tiled and looking really good...nice tile choice
Farrar master bath tile and new trim that was picked out this week...
Wall master bath wall and trim tile
The teak wood nosing on the stairs..this goes through out the whole house where any stairs are..
OK...retaining issues...
Side view of retaining zone..
Ok so the zone as shown: below the garage and to the side of the chill out zone is going to be getting cleared out and backfilled with some of the extra dirt that is above the house near turn around and bodega is right now.. question is what are we thinking for this zone that needs to be retained.....could be a killer planting area....
do we want to do some type of radius wall there from chill out zone wraping around more or less to where the step ladder is in the dirt in the picture to retain the material?
thinking something that kind of goes with the contour of the slope as well as making sometype of border near the upper part of driveway...
Just ideas and will get some other opinons from others as well...
Let me know what your guys ideas are and hope everyone has a good week..

Lil update

Frnt door entrance tiles were laid this week
Chill out zone tiles as well but lil problem with the mortar so they are redoing this zone with the same tiles and a better setting mortar..Looks really good though when completed
Apaint sample color in the girls room...What do you think...photos a lil dark color is a bit lighter than that.
Gonna have to be deciding on a couple small retaing walls here shortly.Left side of garage by shower and as well to left of front door where you can see the lil bit of slope...

the bodega door in the garage was put in last week...will send you guys email but there is a few minor questions as well...
The upstairs closet between the 2 bedrooms mor e closer to walls side did we want a door on that for like say a possible linen closet or just open with open shelving?Safe in hear as well?lil over board?
Safes in master suites i know are a go.But placement?Inside your closet up above your shelves or on the ground?
Garage door i know i talked with nancy and bob during their visit and recalled double swinging steel doors that swing outward?Correct?
Just a couple things that doug was asking about so we can keep the ball rolling as they come to these issues...Hope you guys have good weekend and leave a comment bout what u think about questions...KC

Tile and questions

view from tv/ desk area looking out to the wild..notice pattern of tiles
steve and doug are getting window quotes and couldnt recall what we decided on this window when you come mid way up stairs..One window whole or a lil slider like third of way from bottom for ventalation...I thought we decided one piece? what do you guys think?
Living room /dining room tile layed..
The roofing is officially fiinished
Walls master bedroom tile job
Farrars bedroom tiled...the 2 colors you see on the wall or the sample names you gave me to get..I know the photo dosent real serve justice as the colors arent as true in person and the photo is a lil drk..in person the green on the left is a tad bit drker than it looks like in the photo and i was kinda leaning towards that color more ..thats just me though..what do you guys think...i know its difficult just looking at the photo but just wanted to kinda show you what they looked like...Some other questions came up as well...here we go..For the screened in deck zone as far as the framing around that area we have 2 choices..we could go with teak but is gonna need maintenance every 1-2 years for sure with humidity and blistering heat..or we could go with an aluminum frame kind of like what the windows are made out of and our less maintenance prone.
Front door..Nancy/ Bob and i saw this door in liberia on their way out of town that was a steel framed and had a paneling on the outside of it so it looked like a wood door but is really stell underneath...was kind of pretty cool technique and might be a good choice...the boys got a quote and it's $1000..Doug said if we had him make a wood front door probably around $600 range and then if we wanted to put safety steel door on outside of that would probably be around another $300 ..meaning you would open this steel safety door first and then your wood front door...rather where the other one with steel frame/wood paneling wouldnt necessarily require that second safety steel door on outside...let me know what you guys think but was thinking the steel framed wood panel door might be way to go...Nancy and bob saw it and could give you a bit more details on there thoughts as well...will be talking to everyone soon...sorry for the mini novel here...KC
